PR Agency in Japan for Overseas Tech Companies

Japanese press releases on PR TIMES, media outreach, and reports in English.

We write and distribute Japanese press releases for overseas tech and SaaS companies: a new Japan entity, a country manager, a partnership or a product launch. Each release is written in Japanese from the start, distributed on PR TIMES, and sent to 10 to 15 editors at B2B and industry media. Within a week you get a report in English. A Japan launch release is USD 800, and each additional release is USD 1,000, plus the PR TIMES fee of JPY 30,000 per release. Plan for three to four weeks from the first input to distribution.

Recent results

Two recent releases announcing a new head of a Japan business. We removed the company names. The numbers are from the PR TIMES dashboard.

US cloud software company (Nov 2025) Japan entity of a German vehicle repair group (Aug 2026)
Media sites that carried it 21 27
Page views on PR TIMES 382 in the first 4 days 383 in the first 3 days

The first one appeared on Toyo Keizai Online, PRESIDENT Online, Jiji.com and NIKKEI COMPASS, among others, and PR TIMES estimated its advertising value at about JPY 666,000. Most of the 21 sites are PR TIMES partner sites that reprint the release text as it is. Journalists did not write separate articles about it. We state this in our reports, since partner-site reprints and a few hundred page views are the usual result for an appointment release.

What we do and what it costs

Japan launch release, USD 800

For a new Japan entity or a new country manager.

  • A one-page input sheet for HQ (facts, quotes, career history, the plan for Japan)
  • A check that the Japanese title matches the company registry, since 代表取締役 (Representative Director) is a registered role
  • The Japanese release, written for Japanese editors and buyers
  • Advice on the main image (for an appointment, a professional headshot)
  • Distribution on PR TIMES on a weekday morning, Japan time
  • An email to 10 to 15 editors at B2B and industry media
  • A report in English within a week: page views, the media sites that carried it, and any articles

Additional releases, USD 1,000 each

Partnerships, product launches, awards, events and new local offices. Same steps as above.

The PR TIMES distribution fee is billed separately: JPY 30,000 plus tax per release on PR TIMES's pay-as-you-go plan (PR TIMES pricing, October 2026). Prices exclude applicable taxes.

A launch release is also part of our Phase 1 Japan Launch Package (USD 3,500), together with a Japanese landing page and a company presentation of up to 15 slides. See Localized Materials for Japan.

How PR works differently in Japan

PR TIMES is the largest press release service in Japan. At the end of May 2026, 129,233 companies used it, including 65.8% of listed companies in Japan (PR TIMES, July 2026). Releases are reprinted on about 270 partner media sites (same source), including the websites of national newspapers and business magazines.

Japanese buyers, partners and editors read the Japanese release, so we write it in Japanese and build it around the Japan plan, such as the local entity, the team and the first partners.

Japanese media read career history closely. For an appointment we ask HQ for past companies, roles and years in Japan, and we put them in the release.

A new appointment is news in its first few weeks. If you wait until the Japanese website, pricing and partner program are all ready, the appointment is months old when it goes out.

On one release we checked the PR TIMES heatmap, and about half of readers stopped scrolling before the comments section. We put the main point and the Japan plan in the first paragraph.

How a release runs

  1. We send HQ the input sheet. HQ returns it at least 10 business days before the target date.
  2. We confirm the Japanese title and, for appointments, where the company registration stands. A registration change can take a few weeks.
  3. We write the Japanese release and the main image brief, and HQ reviews it.
  4. HQ approves the final Japanese text in writing before anything goes out.
  5. We distribute it on PR TIMES and contact editors on the agreed date.
  6. Within a week, we send the report in English.

From the first input to distribution usually takes three to four weeks.

When this is not the right service

If you need a press office every month, regular interviews with journalists or crisis communications, a full-service PR firm is a better fit. A release on PR TIMES also does not bring leads by itself. It gives you credibility and Japanese search results for your company name. Leads come from what you do next, such as events, content syndication and search ads.

FAQ

Can you translate our English press release?
No, we rewrite it in Japanese. We keep your facts and quotes, put the Japan news in the title and first paragraph, and write the comments so they read naturally in Japanese.

How many media sites will carry our release?
Our two recent appointment releases appeared on 21 and 27 media sites, and the number depends on the news. Most were PR TIMES partner sites that reprint the text. Articles written by journalists are rarer, and nobody can promise them.

Will a press release bring us leads?
Not directly. Our releases get a few hundred page views each. A release gives you trust and Japanese search results for your name, which help when a prospect checks you before a first meeting.

How long does it take?
About three to four weeks from the first input to distribution. For an appointment, check the Japanese title and the registration first, since a registration change can take a few weeks.

What else can we announce besides a launch?
Partnerships, product launches in Japan, awards, events and new local offices. Each additional release is USD 1,000, plus the PR TIMES fee.
